From Clay to Crown: The Story of Radha
She didn’t know English.
She didn’t know what “entrepreneur” meant.
She didn’t even know how to open a bank account.
Her name was Radha — born in a tiny village where dreams were small, and duties were big.
Radha was raised to cook, clean, and care.
Business? That word never entered her world.
But deep inside her heart was something that never left: courage.
Her husband worked in the city and sent money home. But when he fell sick and couldn’t send anything for months, Radha looked around and realized something…
She had her hands.
She had her mind.
And most importantly, she had her will.
One evening, she noticed her neighbors admiring the handmade clay lamps she had made for Diwali. That was her moment.
“What if I sell these in town?”
Radha borrowed ₹300 from a local women’s group and made 30 more lamps.
She walked 5 kilometers to the nearby town market and sat in a small corner with her clay creations.
People laughed.
Some ignored.
But one woman — one kind woman — bought a lamp and said,
“You made this? You should be in stores.”
That sentence became her spark.
She returned home not with money, but with belief.
Radha started learning from YouTube videos (thanks to her niece).
She learned pricing. She learned color combinations. She learned how to speak to customers — even if it was broken Hindi or shy smiles.
Months passed. Then years.
Radha’s little clay lamps turned into a registered business called “Maati Ki Roshni” (The Light of Clay).
She began training local women.
She opened a workshop.
She now exports handmade lamps to 4 countries.
And last month, Radha stood on a stage in Mumbai and said — in shaky but proud English —
“I may not have school degrees.
But I have life degrees — and they are more powerful than you think.”
🌟 Moral
No knowledge is ever “too little.”
No woman is ever “too late.”
And no village is too small to raise a Queen. 👑
