“The Day I Tried to Be Perfect (And Ended Up in Pajamas by Noon)”

You know those mornings where you wake up with the burning desire to finally get your life together? That was me. It was a Monday (because, of course, disaster loves a dramatic start), and I told myself, “Joice, this is it. Today, we become the woman Pinterest quotes talk about.”

I had a checklist longer than my grocery bill:

  1. Wake up at 5 AM
  2. Meditate like Buddha
  3. Green smoothie for breakfast
  4. Work on my blog
  5. Create two reels
  6. Clean the house
  7. Learn Spanish
  8. Build an empire

Sounds doable, right? Right?

Well, here’s how it actually went.

5:00 AM: Alarm rings. I smile, full of purpose. I whisper, “Let’s do this.” I stretch… and suddenly it’s 7:43 AM. That was my first win — accidental meditation through snoozing.

8:00 AM: I make the green smoothie. It’s healthy. It’s thick. It tastes like blended grass and sadness. I still post a picture on Instagram: “Fueling my soul with greens.” I didn’t drink it. My daughter did — and then made a face like I’d given her poison.

9:00 AM: I start working on my blog. First sentence: “Life is a journey…”

Two hours later, still staring at that sentence like it’s going to finish itself. Instead, I end up deep in a rabbit hole watching “How goats sneeze” reels on Instagram.

12:00 PM: I’m still in pajamas. My hair looks like I tried a tornado hairdo tutorial and nailed it. My checklist has only one tick — “Wake up (kind of).”

But then something happened.

Instead of beating myself up, I laughed. Because life isn’t meant to be a perfect Pinterest board. It’s messy, unpredictable, and full of hilarious failed smoothie experiments. That day, I didn’t accomplish my 10 goals. But I showed up, I learned, and I found a blog story hidden in the chaos.

And you know what? That is a win.

So here’s what I learned (and maybe you need to hear it too):

  1. You don’t need to be perfect to make progress.
  2. Pajamas at noon don’t mean you’re lazy — sometimes they mean you’re comfy and creative.
  3. Laugh at the chaos. It’s your story in the making.
  4. And lastly, post the blog anyway. Someone out there needs your honesty more than your highlight reel.

Because success isn’t always neat — sometimes it looks like a tired woman, with a laptop on one side, a toddler on the other, typing words that make people feel seen.

Let’s rise with joy. Let’s rise with Joice.
