The Day I Almost Gave Up… and Then Burnt My Toast Instead
So, there I was — feeling like a warrior after my mini glow-up phase. My blog was live, reels were rolling, and engagement was picking up like a good WiFi signal. I felt like I was finally figuring things out.
Until I wasn’t.
Let me set the scene:
Monday morning. I woke up with “Boss Energy” in my veins. My to-do list was aggressively highlighted, I had affirmations on my mirror, and I even played a motivational podcast while brushing my teeth.
And then… my phone died.
Then the internet died.
Then my child spilled milk on my laptop.
Then I burnt my toast.
And suddenly, all that “Boss Energy”? Gone.
I sat there, looking at my toast like it was a metaphor for my life — slightly burnt on the edges, but still kinda edible.
But here’s the thing:
I didn’t cry this time.
I laughed. Out loud.
Because I realized, success isn’t always shiny. Sometimes, it’s a mess. Sometimes, it’s showing up with coffee in one hand, a baby on your hip, and your dreams clinging to your shirt like biscuit crumbs.
Here’s what that day taught me:
- You will want to quit. You’ll even romanticize a quiet, easy life.
- You will mess up. And you’ll want to hide — but don’t.
- Consistency isn’t cute. It’s boring, chaotic, and beautifully brave.
- Small wins matter. Posting that one story, finishing a blog draft, even making it through the day without yelling — they all count.
- People are watching. Even when they don’t comment, they feel inspired. Trust me.
So I cleaned the milk, fixed the laptop, remade the toast (sort of), and scheduled one reel with a caption that simply said:
“Today was messy. I showed up anyway.”
And guess what? That post did better than my polished ones. Why?
Because it was real. And we all crave that more than perfection.
So if today’s tough, remember this:
You’re not behind.
You’re not too late.
You’re just in your “burnt toast” chapter — and trust me, the comeback is cooking.
