“The Cupboard of Curious Calls” A 3-Part Mystery Blog Series from RWJ Where the unusual is usual—and even your cupboard might have secrets.
🌀 Episode 3: Return Policy? Never Heard of Her
The store was chaos wrapped in charisma. Think flea market meets Hogwarts, run by someone who drinks five coffees and never blinks.
“Name’s Moira,” the caped shopkeeper said, handing me a clipboard. “You’re part of the chosen. And by ‘chosen,’ I mean you picked the smelliest candle.”
I looked around. Shelves were lined with:
- Dream-capturing pillows
- Mood-changing mugs (they also gossip)
- Invisible ink journals (not metaphorical)
- Candles that smell like your first heartbreak
A talking mirror called me dramatic. A book bit my finger. I was in love.
Moira grinned. “This is the Mystery Store. Everything you see is alive. Everything you buy becomes part of your story.”
I blinked. “Wait—buy? I didn’t even bring my wallet.”
The cupboard appeared behind me again.
“You already paid… with curiosity.”
Before I could argue, I woke up.
Back in my apartment. No store. No cupboard. Just one thing had changed:
The fish-scented candle sat on my table, flickering. Its label now read:
“Mystery Awaits. Return anytime. Just knock—at 3:17.”
And beneath it was a tiny tag with the store’s website.
🛒 Final Note from RWJ:
Not all cupboards are dangerous.
But ours come with adventure.
