“The Cupboard of Curious Calls” A 3-Part Mystery Blog Series from RWJ Where the unusual is usual—and even your cupboard might have secrets.
🌀 Episode 1: The Knock at 3:17 AM
They say 3 AM is when ghosts like to party. But 3:17 AM? That’s when they send invitations.
I was binge-watching reruns of “Paranormal Police” and arguing with my cat over ownership of the blanket when it happened—
Knock. Knock. Knock. Half-knock.
I waited. Silence.
I opened the door. Nothing.
Except for a note dangling from the doorknob:
“You’re late. The journey has already begun. PS: Don’t trust the cupboard.”
Cool. I don’t even have a cupboard. Or so I thought.
Until I turned around and saw it.
A cupboard.
A big, creaky, ancient one standing in the corner of my living room where only yesterday there was a beanbag and three unmatched socks.
“I’m not real,” the cupboard whispered.
I whispered back, “Then why are you judging my interior design?”
The cupboard creaked. The lights flickered. The biryani in the fridge wept.
I knew this wasn’t just a piece of old furniture.
This was a portal.
And someone—or something—wanted me to open it.
